Question #1:
Hello Dr. Luginbill,
How is the cold / flu doing?
Thank you , yet again, for the quick response.
As for the license, no, and I’d say this - to some extent - tied into
some remaining pieces of that puzzling application of truth for me.
I have become quite a proponent of speaking less compared to prior
years; it’s a lot less easier to refrain from flattering, manipulating,
affirming bad behavior, etc
I think my original question was more regarding things that are hard to
define; I think about my own life situations, and I can’t really define
certain things in an undeniable way - only God ultimately understands
and knows many things.
After I sent the email last week, I was thinking about the role of
waiting in the Christian life. I have found myself so discouraged at
times as I seek direction to challenges, and don’t get an answer or
direction in the timeframe I thought I needed.
I’m seeing this trend of discouragement, and now I can combat it more
aggressively by choosing the truth - God loves me, He will not and has
not forsaken me, He is in control, and His way is best. Not just that,
but that discouragement can weaken faith (I’ve been going through some
of the Peter Series again; timely!)
I noticed an illustration of sorts in my life that helped the truths
“click”. We have quite a few dogs, and one of the tasks I’ve worked on
with two is waiting, but now needing to add in distraction, length of
time, or having them wait when I’m not visible. It’s not just about the
task itself, but arguably good to develop their focus and discipline in
the case of an emergency.
We may not understand this side of eternity why certain trials or
challenges come our way, but it doesn’t matter- we just need to stay
focused on Him come what may, train and trust Him. Our reward will be
much greater than training treats!!
Have a wonderful day, sir! Thank you so much !
Response #1:
Sorry to hear about the license. I continue to keep that in prayer.
Re: not speaking. Amen! It's a lot easier to avoid all manner of traps if we
just keep our mouths shut (easier for some than for others but not completely
easy for anyone: Ps.39:1-3).
When words are many, transgression is not lacking,
but whoever restrains his lips is prudent.
Proverbs 10:19 ESV
Thank you for the great application on waiting and patience as a necessary virtue in the Christian walk. In one respect this is ALL about waiting – we are all waiting for the Lord to return, waiting for the resurrection, waiting for our reward and our home in New Jerusalem. Anything we are waiting for in THIS life is only a temporary help or fix or blessing, after all, but the things which are eternal are worth waiting for, and abundantly so! We are all just waiting, sojourning here on this temporary earth until the great day we long for arrives.
In faith died all these, not having received the promises, but from afar having seen them, and having been persuaded, and having saluted them, and having confessed that strangers and sojourners they are upon the earth.
Hebrews 11:13 YLT
Our hope which we are waiting to have fulfilled "does not disappoint" us
(Rom.5:5), because we are absolutely convinced of God's great love for us.
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #2:
Hello Dr. Luginbill,
I have a question on the above verse 7 in Isaiah 25.
What is the meaning of the swallow up the covering which is over all
peoples?
I have place a note [sin] as the covering, but I am not positive this is
correct.
This is the Marriage supper of the Bride [the Church}, so what is being
swallowed up by Jesus is my question?
My understanding is, that this event takes place at the Marriage supper,
or?
Thanks for your help as always,
Blessings to you abundantly.
Your friends,
Response #2:
And in this mountain
The LORD of hosts will make for all people
A feast of choice pieces,
A feast of wines on the lees,
Of fat things full of marrow,
Of well-refined wines on the lees.
And He will destroy on this mountain
The surface of the covering cast over all people,
And the veil that is spread over all nations.
He will swallow up death forever,
And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces;
The rebuke of His people
He will take away from all the earth;
For the LORD has spoken.
And it will be said in that day:
“Behold, this is our God;
We have waited for Him, and He will save us.
This is the LORD;
We have waited for Him;
We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”
Isaiah 25:6-9 NKJV
The covering is death, but that, of course, is not unconnected with sin
since sin is the origin of death (cf. 1Cor.15:54-57, which quotes this
passage). "Swallow up" is used because of the rapidity and completeness
of the removal.
It is true that at this juncture in the context of Isaiah 27, namely,
the return of the Messiah (and of us along with Him in resurrection) the
removal of death will actually only be permanent for the Church (which
is composed of representatives from "all peoples"), but we have to keep
in mind the issue of prophetic foreshortening (link);
that is to say, Isaiah and other OT prophets were usually given
to see the Day of the Lord as a unity without chronological distinction.
So while the complete removal of death for the entire family of God only
occurs at the end of the Millennium, for various reasons (discussed in
the link), OT prophets were generally given to see "the end" as a unity
– like viewing an unabridged dictionary from the top where you see only
the cover, versus seeing it from the side where you see the guide tabs
and view the alphabetical sequence.
Keeping you and yours in my prayers.
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #3:
Hi Dr L,
I don't really have a question, but I wanted to say hi and Happy Friday!
I am still learning a lot from the ICHTHYS Bible Study!
Also, I don't know if you'd find this interesting, but I am getting some
fruit from the cognitive exercises. And this is hard to put into words
but it is both helping me notice and get away from bad mental/thinking
patterns and also make connections I hadn't before. So that is neat.
How are you doing?
p.s., I actually do have a small question. On the Church of Ephesus, so
please help me understand here: The false apostles were coming from the
outside and reject, or were they from the group but when they revealed
themselves rejected, or both? And the Nicolatians were people outside
(following a false religion) try to get the Ephesians here to
compromise, or were within the group and trying to get them to
compromise and rejected, or both?
Response #3:
Thanks for the good words!
On your question, the "attackers" during that first, post-apostolic era
of the Church Age were false teachers and their followers, unbelievers,
who were attacking believers and their fellowships from the outside.
They were rejected by the believers and not accepted into fellowship
because the believers recognized them as evil unbelievers masquerading
as believers, Gnostics as they are commonly called, whether of the
legalistic (putative teachers of the Law) or antinomian sort (Nicolaitans).
There's more about them in Peter #39 and in
Hebrews
chapter 1 (at the links). Later on, these groups become more
successful at infiltration until, during the era of Sardis, they
essentially take over the "church-visible". The era of Philadelphia (the
Reformation) reversed that trend by bringing the believers out of the
false church, but today in Laodicea we see that it's often hard to
distinguish between believers and unbelievers on account of lukewarmness
(see
the link for a short list of disturbing trends).
I am doing pretty well! Thanks for asking – and thanks for your prayers
on my behalf, my friend!
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #4:
Hi Bob, thanks for your quick response. I still would like to know how my friend
is doing? Maybe you forgot to tell me.
I agree with your friend.
I also think that everything unfolding in the Middle East is paving the way for
the Third Temple, with Trump at the center, not as a blessing, but as a
judgment, used by God to set the stage for what’s written.
I've been following the World Economic Forum for a long time and all the people
that hold positions. They are the center of all this as well.
I also have been following a real estate/title and escrow company that is
associated with the World Economic Forum. They have been setting up the system
since 2017 to make real property a real world asset.
Propy Inc. is a real estate technology company that focuses on streamlining
property transactions using blockchain technology. Their platform enables
buyers, sellers, and agents to complete real estate transactions in a more
secure, transparent, and efficient way. (Propy's words)
They will eventually take out most realtor jobs & title insurance with the help
of AI. I have spent the last few months studying it really hard. I recently just
received my Crypto Agent Certificate. The Propy system already has every
licensed realtor in there system. I noticed this when I signed up. They are
ready to kick this off and it's going to be soon.
They also have a system set up where you can mint any address all over the world
using their token (Propy). Every address in the world is already in the system
all you have to do is type it in the bar, pay your tokens and in return you
receive a NFT in your wallet. It's called minting.
Propy has pioneered the tokenization of real estate, allowing properties to be
bought and sold as NFTs (non-fungible tokens). The more you mint the more
profitable it will be in the future as every property will be on the blockchain
and can be sold as fractions to anyone all over the world using Bitcoin, etherum,
XRP etc. it's kinda like monopoly. When an address is claimed you receive tokens
that can be exchanged for USDC. When a property is sold you also receive tokens.
I've been minting all over the world since last March. Hoping that when this
kicks off maybe I'll have some proceeds to buy a home. I did put Jerusalem and
Bethlehem in my wallet along with many places in Israel. Every month they allow
you to mint only 3 landmarks. I minted a few military airports as well in
Israel. It's been a year and so many landmarks are already gone and this hasn't
fully kicked off yet. Last week a property in Hawaii was sold and bought with
Bitcoin all on the blockchain. They are testing the system and getting ready to
implement it.
Speaking of Blockchain, remember the art contest __ won with the Stellar
Blockchain? ....when we went to Spain. Well in the last few months we have come
to realization that Stellar is going to be the main Blockchain in the World
where everything is built on. Here soon every neighbor, relative, friend and
acquaintance will be talking about XLM and it's affiliate XRP. In fact they made
a animated movie a few years ago called Elemental. In the movie the characters
are Ember Lumen and Wade Ripple. Lumen is XLM & Ripple is XRP. It's interesting
how they have everyone looking one way while they are doing there thing the
other way.
Sorry....
I got off track a little....
Back to Propy, they are using security as a reason the put your property on the
blockchain. So many properties are being sold fraudulently and this is one of
the reasons that will get everyone on board. The fear factor....
I copied and pasted below a little about Propy so in case I missed something
this will give you a better understanding. Propy’s Role in Real Estate:
Blockchain-Based Transactions – Propy uses blockchain to securely store
transaction records, reducing fraud and increasing transparency.
Smart Contracts – It automates and digitizes contracts, making the closing
process faster and more efficient.
NFT Real Estate Sales – Propy has pioneered the tokenization of real estate,
allowing properties to be bought and sold as NFTs (non-fungible tokens).
Global Property Marketplace – Their platform facilitates cross-border real
estate transactions, making it easier for international buyers to purchase
properties.
Unfortunately , this is all one step closer to total control but like you said
man can't change this. I'm sure I'm going to get some heat for participating in
this but nothing from what I can see in the Bible says not to join the crypto
movement. I know where the world is going and I watch carefully that I'm not
doing something Jesus would not want me to do. If by chance I come into
prosperity I will be helping his children every chance I get I truly believe
things are going to get hard for many of us. After the last 10 years of all our
struggles I have learned that so many are walking in the dark and don't have a
clue. At first I was angry how no one would help us, how everyone just thinks of
themselves, how prideful, arrogant and self centered so many people are and
especially our friends and family. Everyone living in their castles looking down
on us because we live in a campground. I now have forgave them all and hope that
they all follow Jesus some day. I'm no longer angry.
I have been taking advantage of AI lately. I asked chatgpt a question.
Pretend that Satan is real and wants to manifest into a human form, who would he
use today that lives in the US that fits this description?
Chatgpt said below
If we assume Satan is real and wants to manifest in human form, he would likely
choose someone with immense influence, charisma, and the ability to shape public
opinion or policy. This could be a political leader, a billionaire tech mogul, a
media personality, or even a cultural icon—someone who already has the power to
manipulate masses, spread deception, or create chaos.
This is a highly subjective and controversial question, and naming a specific
individual would largely depend on personal perspectives and biases. However, if
we’re considering someone with immense influence, the ability to shape
narratives, and a polarizing presence, figures like Elon Musk could be an
interesting choice.
Why? He wields massive technological power, has a cult-like following, makes
unpredictable decisions that can affect global markets, and openly challenges
societal norms. While not inherently evil, his ability to disrupt industries,
spread controversial ideas, and shape the future aligns with the idea of a
figure who could influence the world in ways both awe-inspiring and potentially
dangerous.
I thought this was right on. I also find it hilarious...Elon has been pushing AI
so much lately especially this last week on his X platform and today...AI
tattletales on him.
Well it's getting late. I best get going. Tell your friend I think he is right
and I also think your writings are showing more and more to being right on task.
Talk soon my friend,
Response #4:
I'm doing pretty well. Had a bout with Covid(?) and I'm still a little fatigued.
But at least I was able to make all my classes. We had some extra time off here
and there on account of the foul weather (which closed the university along with
everything else).
As mentioned in several recent postings, I'm agnostic about identifying
antichrist just yet. That doesn't mean that present events are not setting up
for what will happen in the Tribulation. One way or another, I'm sure they are.
The beast will claim to be the Messiah; don't see anyone doing that yet. Also,
from everything I've been able to glean about antichrist from scripture, he will
be an exceptional individual – in the bad sense, of course, but not without
amazing talents. I also don't seen anyone of the present scene who would seem to
come close to matching that. So I'm waiting to see. We should know fairly soon.
Very interesting information on "blockchain" et al. I had no idea about any of
this (I'd only heard of this re: cryptocurrency). It's a good reminder that no
believer is going to be able to navigate what's coming through non-spiritual
preparations. We have the Lord. He is our strength and our shield – and He will
see us through whatever it is His good pleasure for us to go through. Our job is
trust Him to do so.
Keeping you and your family in my prayers daily, my friend.
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #5:
Hi Bob,
I'm sorry to hear you got sick. That's not fun, at least it sounds like you're
getting better. I hear ivermectin is good for those COVID symptoms.
I guess it's easy to jump to conclusions when you see things moving along so
fast. It is also a good reminder that no believer is going to be able navigate
what's coming through non-spiritual preparations. Thank goodness the Lord is our
strength and shield and we can count on him.
Hope you have a wonderful week and thanks for the prayers.
Response #5:
Re: "Thank goodness the Lord is our strength and shield and we can count on
him." Amen!
There are a LOT of unknowns yet, but we WILL know when the Tribulation starts.
It'll be hard to miss (Rev.8:1-5). At that point, all of our prior speculation
will be out the window, AND we'll have a clear "count-down" until the Lord
returns. Nothing could be better than what is to come! We just have to get over
this rough road first.
Thanks for your prayers too, my friend!
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #6:
Thank you, you are getting me back on track. It is all speculation right now and
what a waste of time trying to figure it out.
This reminded me the other day I was telling __ that one thing we do know is
when this all starts we have 7 years. That's a blessing to know. The last 10
years without a home have been long and not knowing when this will end is not a
good feeling...if it ever does end. It's also been exhausting helping others
find a home when you so badly want one, It's torturous to say the least.
Although now that I'm not in the camper after 4 years has been a blessing and
I'm thankful. I can at least take a normal shower, have a washer and dryer and
some thicker walls to get better sleep without all the noise. Every month we
have to put a little in the credit card to make it work but at least we are
doing the best we can. Everything has an end and I'm really looking forward to
it.
Thanks for your friendship.
Response #6:
I've said it before and I'll say it again. You guys are better prepared for the
Tribulation than most believers I know not only because of spiritual growth but
also because of the great personal tribulation you've had to endure for so long.
Re: "Everything has an end and I'm really looking forward to it." That
was my dad's favorite saying: "Everything is always over", and when it comes to
the Tribulation, amen! We'll be glad to see the end, and not just because of the
end of trouble but also because of the beginning of eternal bliss, resurrection,
reunion and reward with each other and our dear Lord forever!
"Can't hardly wait!" Amen!
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #7:
Thank you for this. It was much needed. Sometimes I really wonder what I can
endure. It's amazing how your health affects your thoughts and ability to keep
up that strong faith. There are days I feel like I'm so strong and other days
where I feel so weak.
I love you dads favorite saying. That's so true and ..."We'll be glad to see the
end, and not just because of the end of trouble but also because of the
beginning of eternal bliss, resurrection, reunion and reward with each other and
our dear Lord forever!". AMEN!!
Thank you always being such a good friend.
__ says hi, he still loves your books and reads them frequently. Lately he has
been reading the Bible about 3-4 hours a day. Mostly in the evenings before bed.
He has been staying with a friend in his spare bedroom during the week working
in __. His friend mostly is on his computer following the politics in pure
theater...which we aren't into so it gives plenty of reading time. What a
blessing.
Hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend.
Response #7:
It's my pleasure, my friend! It's always refreshing to correspond with other
believers who have the eternal perspective and have it so solidly that the joy
shines through all the darkness of this world including whatever troubles
they're dealing with.
It's also very true about "the health front" being one of the more vulnerable
places for us to be "hit" – which is no doubt why Satan hit Job there when he
couldn't break him with the loss of his children and his wealth. Paul too
received a "thorn in the flesh", but in his case it has the positive effect of
keeping him humble in spite of his amazing blessings from the Lord (2Cor.12:7).
Not many of us can see things as clearly as Paul! So it is a real blessing to
be told that we will never be tested beyond what we can actually endure
(1Cor.10:13).
Here's hoping (and praying) that __ and you can be completely reunited soon, my
friend. Please give __ my best.
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #8:
Dear Prof Robert,
Shalom and greetings in the Name of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ!!
I am from Singapore.
I would like to thank you for creating your website, Icthyus, and for sharing
your articles. My particular interests are the End Times and Israel. I believe
in the Post-Trib Rapture because Jesus’s teaching on this is very clear in
Matthew 24:29-31. Jesus has NEVER lied and I believe that whatever He said in
those verses is true.
I will be going to the US to visit my daughter from 28 May to 18 June. My
daughter lives in Dallas with her husband and son.
Is there any chance that I can visit you in Louisville during that time? The
purpose of my visit is to discuss End Times and how we should prepare for it. In
this respect, I felt led to write a short write-up, “End Time Preparation
(Essentials)” . I am attaching a copy for you to read and comment and would be
very grateful, if you can do it.
Let me know if it is possible to visit you and what dates would be suitable.
Thanks.
Blessings,
Response #8:
Good to make your acquaintance.
I can't guarantee anything about scheduling this far out.
I will say that anything I have to say about the subject is already available at
Ichthys – and that I would be more than happy to direct you to the right place
if you're having trouble finding anything on the site.
Re: "meeting me", as Paul says, "His letters are weighty and forceful,
but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing"
(2Cor.10:10).
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #9:
Hello Prof Robert,
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry for the late reply. I was busy and subsequently overlooked this matter.
Yes, your website does provide a lot of info. Actually what I am more keen is to
get your input about how we can prepare ourselves to go through the Last Days,
particularly the Great Tribulation. Now with Trump as President of the US, the
dynamics may change a bit.
I think you're too modest, describing yourself as "unimpressive".
In case you change your mind, please let me know.
Thanks.
Blessings,
Response #9:
No worries.
Re: "In case you change your mind, please let me know." Will do.
Re: "the dynamics may change a bit". In terms of preparation for the
Tribulation, I would say that present circumstances don't matter much – not in
the case of believers who understand what is important. Clearly, a lot of
lukewarm Christians are either getting on the bandwagon politically or stirring
themselves up in opposition. Both immature responses are not only
counterproductive but spiritually dangerous. We don't know who antichrist is as
yet. Going into the Tribulation it may go either way. That is to say, whoever is
in power at the time it commences may be the beast or may be the person/group
the beast dethrones. Being aligned with either party therefore will only cause
believers to be caught up in supporting antichrist or opposing him with
non-godly means. Neither course will end in any good.
Spiritual preparation is the ONLY preparation for the Tribulation – the only
preparation which will have any truly positive effect, that is. That is what
the CT series is designed to help
with. But of course knowing about the Tribulation and adopting spiritual
strategies to cope with it (see the link: CT 7:
Preparing for Tribulation: A Tribulational Code of Conduct), are only part
of the solution. Knowing eschatology alone isn't enough. A believer needs to be
conversant with the entire realm of the doctrines of the Bible (which is why
Eschatology is only one part of that eleven part
Basics series).
Finally, it doesn't matter what we think about ourselves and our own ministries
(as long as we don't get swelled heads about them). All glory belongs to God . .
. for anything that is actually good (Ps.115:1).
I care very little if I am judged by you or by any human court; indeed, I do not even judge myself. My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
1st Corinthians 4:3-5 NIV
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #10:
Hello Prof Robert,
Thanks for your very quick reply in spite of your busyness.
I fully agree with what you wrote and for referring me to your write-up,
“A Tribulational Code of Conduct”. I totally
agree with your advice on the code of conduct we Christians should have during
the Great Tribulation (GT).
• Do Take Shelter from the Storm
• Do Stay Objective and Avoid Reacting to Events
• Do Take Joy in God's Working out of His Plan (instead of being Disheartened by
Events)
• Do Continue in Faith, Spiritual Growth, Progress and Production
• Do Heed Specific Divine Commands and Guidance
• Do Not Put any Stock in False Miracles or False Messiahs
• Do Not Continue Association with Individuals and Groups Co-opted by Antichrist
• Do Not Join or Cooperate with Antichrist's False Religion
• Do Not Take the Mark of the Beast
• Do Not Fear Persecution or Martyrdom
Yes, we got to keep focusing on the Lord and rely on Him for grace, strength and
perseverance when we go through the GT.
Thanks once again for being an equipper of the saints.
May God continue to bless you and your loved ones and continue to grant you
wisdom as you continue to share with Christians who wish to be equipped for the
GT.
Shalom,
Response #10:
Thanks for the good words, my friend – greatly appreciated.
It's a good list. I think I may have seen it somewhere before (LOL).
Wishing you a safe and happy trip and success in carrying out the Lord's will to
the end of a good reward on that wonderful day to come.
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #11:
Hey Bob!
I sent off for the business cards this morning and changed the wording
at the bottom line to 'invited'.
Please don't feel discouraged Bob! I don't know what I would do without
your ministry or your fellowship or friendship! I don't know what I
would do without you! I am afraid you are stuck with me for our earthly
duration my dear friend -- sorry about that!
I just presumed that you were hearing from everyone on your prayer list
regularly and so had a lot of people to talk back and forth with. Due to
that presumption and not wanting to dominate your time as I know I have
a tendency to do that, as well as wanting to start facing up to testing
through the Spirit and what I had learned without leaning as heavily on
you, due to these things I haven't been as heavily in contact with you
of late as I was before and now I am sorry for that!
I will endeavour to keep in more regular and consistent contact but
instead of just moaning about my lot (as I have a tendency to do), I
hope to be more of a blessing and an encouragement to you as you have
been to me! Over and above! I really don't know how you've put up with
me! You have been one of the greatest and dearest friends I have ever
had if not the best over all! (After our Lord of course!)
I hope now though that I can be a real encouragement to you in the
faith. I really am on the very cusp of pushing my ministry forward and
as it will be directly linked to yours so I will need back and forth on
that and will always appreciate your input and wisdom on how to approach
particular talking points with your teaching ministry as a guide.
Don't lose hope Bob! Our job is to make and serve the best spiritual
food we can do! That is only possible due to the Word and the Holy
Spirit's work preparing this food for us to then serve. The Lord then
will guide hungry people to come and eat at our ministries. Our job is
to provide the food, to feed our Lord's sheep, the sheep's job is to be
hungry for our food. If they then go wandering off to eat broken glass,
rotten wood and stones instead, that's not our fault but theirs.
As some sheep wander off to find some more exciting vittles elsewhere
(which is really a mix of pablum and poison) then they are merely
leaving room for other sheep to stop by. We just keep preparing the food
and serving it up as there will be sheep around us that are very
grateful for the food we are preparing though they may never say thanks
to us personally, they will (I hope at least) give thanks to the Lord
for our labours.
I am sure the rewards which awaits all who minister will be reflective
of the amount of sustained effort and truth within our labours rather
than the response we receive? Moses had an incredible ministry and yet
look how many of the Israelites ignored it and died in the desert
despite being first hand eye witnesses to spectacularly genuine signs
and wonders! Look how many rejected our Lord's ministry given how
miraculous and perfect it was!!
So it shows that we're in the finest of company. Like our Lord did and
Moses did, we carry on. We set our own gaze like flint towards the Day
of the Lord and the wedding feast of the Lamb and the New Jerusalem.
As you keep saying NOTHING can stop these events occuring and right on
time! Nothing! And we're almost there! Almost in Daniel's 70th week and
the last week of human history as we have known it and the end of Cosmos
Diabolicus! How AMAZING is that! Having a successful and brilliant
ministry as your own right at the brink of the Tribulation?! Wow Bob!
That should really do your heart some good!
I am so sorry to hear that people have wandered away and not been
appreciative of the spiritual banquet you are constantly serving and
helping people to eat. It is fine food, the finest and I am very
grateful for it and you!
I am also sorry that people haven't considered you, the weight you have
to shift and keep shifting and that we don't consider that, that you
need encouragement and cheering on from us too! We expect so much of you
Bob and yet you are human like the rest of us and no doubt suffer heavy
blowback from the enemy for having such an excellent ministry as you
have.
I hope to be more of an encouragement to you. If you ever need
encouragement, please ask but I will try my best to encourage you
regularly without you needing to ask. I am so sorry if I have failed you
in this respect before, please forgive me.
Keep going Bob, keep going stronger than ever! The Lord will always be
with you and you will be constantly empowered by the Holy Spirit. We do
depend on you Bob but perhaps we don't thank you and encourage you often
enough.
Praying for you daily to be strengthened and encouraged in your ministry
and I hope this message will encourage others to do so too!
Please print it.
My dear friend!
In Jesus,
p.s. I have set alarms on my phone now so that I pray for your ministry
three times a day, every day now! (also will pray for
Curtis's and my own).
Response #11:
Thank you for the encouragement, my friend. I apologize if I gave you the
impression that I'd somehow "lost hope". Far from it! Indeed, if some or many
who once got some benefit from this ministry decide for whatever reason to turn
away from it, I wish them only the best – and pray for them . . . even though in
my heart of hearts I think they're making a mistake. I only mentioned this
because the one experience I have with someone passing out cards turned out to
be not particularly successful, and I didn't want you going down an unproductive
road.
Considering where we are on the eschatological clock, it really is amazing to
think, for example, that everything human beings are out there striving for in
terms of trying to manage or change or "fix" the world (i.e., about 90% of what
is in the news) only has a few short years to run and then will be no more. Even
during the Tribulation this will all be coopted by the beast; then in the
Millennium there will be none of it whatsoever. So we have every reason to hope –
and to hope in the biblical sense of absolute confidence in the Lord – that even
the darkest days of the seven trying years to come will offer opportunities to
do what Jesus wants us to do.
I appreciate your friendship VERY much, my friend. Looking forward to the
complete fruition of your own ministry too.
Keeping you and your health and your family in my daily prayers, my friend.

Question #12:
Thank you Bob!
Sorry I misread your last email. It is very difficult to read tone in
messages so sorry to make a presumption about how you felt (that is
losing hope to the response to your ministry, never about losing hope in
faith)
Also sorry in my email as I realised that writing 'we' a lot about
ministry was pretty 'puffed up' of me seeing mine is still on paper and
yours has been up and running for 28 years!!! Incredible achievement!
Also sorry if I my trying to cheer you up seemed patronising as you have
been a mature Christian for such a long time and I know that there is
nothing in this walk that you haven't already experienced umpteen times
yourself!
In that moment I felt an urge to cheer you on and encourage you even
though you didn't need it. As I said, I feel really bad at times that I
rely on you so much and really take so much from you that I often feel
bad that I can't give you anything back in return. It's funny that most
of my relationships are imbalanced exactly in the opposite direction in
that I always give and the other person takes so I feel bad that I take
so much from you without being able to give you anything back in return.
You do have my friendship and support of your ministry and my constant
prayers.
I guess I leapt at the chance to spur you on even if you didn't need it
because I thought I would like to give back to you and your ministry
which I am always taking from.
I have learnt so much from you that I simply can never repay. Even
seeing your attitude to this, that it doesn't cut at you personally when
people walk away is a real education to me how professional and thick
skinned you are towards production. I can learn a lot from this too.
Yes, indeed it is a HUGE mistake for anyone to walk away from a ministry
as fine as yours especially so very close to the end.
I also completely agree that all this hullabaloo of fixing this or
winning that really is all pointless given everything will be judged by
a fiery baptism in a few very short years. I actually find that very
comforting to know in that it immediately re-directs me to what is a
true good use of my time here considering that everything else will be
basically going up in flames and taken away altogether. Apart from our
spiritual rewards and our salvation, we won't be taking anything with us
into our life eternal with the Lord, not even our current bodies(!) so
it behooves us as you might say, to divest ourselves more and more each
day from the things of this world as none of them will be around for
very much longer.
Maybe I was actually projecting some of my own feelings back there. I
know it is silly but I feel a little nervous about putting my ministry
up because I worry it isn't good enough and that it will have a bad
response or even a no response but either way I know I have to go
forward no matter what. I am sure that as soon as I make a start and
then get a momentum going, after that, things will be much easier as
time goes on. I think having to let go of __ and move on from that
rocked me more than I realised. __ was literally the only 'Christian'
that I had any face to face contact with so it was really tempting just
to hold on no matter what but it was becoming impossible to hold on
without dragging me and my walk down.
Sorry again, hope I didn't cause offense. I always seem to put my foot
in it these days. It came from a good place. I don't know why but I feel
a little emotional and fearful of the future as the only human company I
have is three people in their 70s with failing health... I am frightened
of one day finding myself completely alone.
In Jesus,
Response #12:
No worries at all, my friend, and certainly no offense taken!
As I said, I greatly appreciate all your good words and your good heart
too.
I am sorry that you have had so much flak from family and friends and
that you don't really have any solid Christian companionship face to
face, but this is more the rule than the exception for those who are
really trying to do what the Lord wants here in the latter days of
Laodicea. Thanks for encouraging me – and I wish to encourage you too!
We may indeed find ourselves alone in this life . . . temporarily. But
what a great day it will be when we – the entire Church – are raised as
one to live together as one in the presence of our dear Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ! No loneliness then – or any other negative thing. The old
things will have completely passed away then and the new things we have
in promise now will be an experiential reality forevermore (2Cor.5:17).
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.”
Revelation 21:5-7 NKJV
Keeping you and yours in my daily prayers, my friend.

Question #13:
Hi Bob,
What is your interpretation of this phrase in Rev.11:18?
Thanks
In Jesus,
Response #13:
Here's something previously posted on that (link):
The "earth" in Revelation 11:18 is the Greek word ge, [cf. "ge-ography"] which in Revelation can mean the land of Israel specifically, or more often "the entire world" (as we would say), as opposed to "the earth". Notice how those two words are quite different in their connotations in English, with "world" referring more to people as the focus, and with "earth" tending more towards the physical planet. It is the former sense in which ge is mostly used in Revelation:
The whole world (i.e., "all people" [ge]) was astonished and followed the beast.
Revelation 13:3 NIVPeople, after all, are part of the earth as much as plants and animals and ecosystems are, and from the divine point of view (and the source of this quote you mention is coming from heaven), people – and especially believers – are the most important part of "the world". Destroying the world, therefore, is more than bad environmental policy. Indeed, in the context of the Tribulation the destruction of freedom and the ruination of the world economy is much more significant, with the most significant thing from the divine point of view being the Great Persecution. With the restrictions imposed by antichrist and with the rapid depopulation resulting from the various tribulational trends and judgments, the damage that people do to the environment during that time is likely to be significantly less than it is today, though not as a matter of policy. That said, I greatly suspect that antichrist will be an environmentalist, since that is a wonderful way for him to gain political support in the early going and also to garner more power in the mid term before his control becomes total.
Environmentalism as it exists today in its left-wing political form is a kind of religion which places more value on species which come under its wing or even on inanimate things than it does on human life and well-being. That is a sick notion, biblically speaking, and a sure harbinger of the end times. As a former boy scout in my youth, I have always been a conservationist. The main principle of that creed is to enjoy the outdoors but to make sure that you leave it just as pristine as it was when you arrived. Environmentalism, by contrast, wants to use the force of the state to deprive most of its citizens of the right even to enjoy the outdoors (environmentalist themselves being the exception), and to eradicate any exploitation of natural resources whatsoever regardless of whether or not others who are not as wealthy as the environmentalists will then starve or freeze to death. Right up the beast's alley, no doubt.
Here's what I write about this verse in CT in loc.:
Finally, the vengeance about to fall upon all involved in committing, aiding, or abetting the Great Persecution comes in for special mention. Christ's impending return will result in the literal destruction of "those who are destroying the earth", a phrase with primarily moral and spiritual implications, referring in particular to all who have been responsible for the martyrdom of those who remain faithful to Jesus (rather than referring exclusively to any physical or environmental damage to planet earth proper; cf. in Rev.19:2, the whore Babylon "who was destroying the earth by her excessive prostitution", that is, destroying it in a moral and spiritual sense; cf. Is.14:18; Hab.2:17; Rev.6:7-8). This includes Babylon, the beast, the devil, his angels, the nations and those from the nations who participated in Satan's evil plan to eradicate the faithful and the seed of Israel from the earth. So we see that just as they did prior to the opening of the book with its seven seals representing the beginning of the Tribulation proper (Rev.5:8-10; albeit in this earlier instance they do so in company with the four living creatures), here too the twenty-four elders are performing a special hymn of worship to memorialize the importance of the 7th trumpet, the event which marks the beginning of the Great Tribulation even as it heralds the imminent arrival of the Kingdom and its King who will vindicate His own on the dawning of the Great Day of the Lord.
How are doing, my friend?
Glad I made it to the weekend, personally!

Bob L.
Question #14:
Thank you, Bob!
I wasn't thinking in terms of people, rather the planet which, of course, would
destroy people as well. The manic desire to fix what God didn't get right with
genetic engineering, pesticides and mRNA vaccines is probably one of the most
troubling aspects of fixing nature. It's amazing to me that instead of learning
how to live with God's creation, we want to change it. Genesis 3:4-5
exemplified!
I, to, was a Boy Scout and carried a lot of spent shells and wads of
monofilament out of field and stream. I also believe in protecting the
environment much as we teach our kids to keep their rooms clean but I've never
gone out in the streets yelling and waving signs. But, I'm preaching to the
choir...
I'm doing reasonably well, thanks. I figure as long as I'm upright, I'm in good
shape. I'm longing to get my eyes remodeled. (If it works out as advertised.)
How are you doing?! Your last line didn't sound good. I pray there's nothing
wrong.
In our Lord,
Response #14:
It's not just a little ironic that in terms of the environment the trumpet
judgments will do more to temporarily scorch it than all human activity since
the beginning – and these will be brought on by the bad spiritual course of the
world at large as warnings not to do worse (which the majority of the world's
population will ignore). All the supposed "good" eco-fascism has accomplished
won't be a drop in the bucket compared to all the harm brought on by following
the evil one. Blessedly, of course, the Lord will restore the earth during the
Millennium so that it will blossom as never before since the garden of Eden –
and without any of the human "help" that is being proffered today. It's also the
case that as mentioned, "destroy the earth" is referring to the spiritual
destruction these and all devil-following individuals are and will be wreaking.
That is what is truly damaging – and it leads to the physical troubles we're
having now and will have in the future.
I'm doing OK! Thanks for asking and for your prayers, my friend.
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #15:
Hi Bob,
Great to hear from you! I have been thinking about how you are doing, and was
wanting to give you a progress report on how things are going on here.
Healthwise, __ is checking out good on her follow ups, and I am doing OK, each
of us taking it one day at a time. His grace is sufficient! I'm going in for a
steroid shot into my SI joint on the 17th. Hopefully I will get some relief soon
after. At least I can still do quite a bit anyway, even if not as quickly or
pain-free as in the good ol 'younger days! Unfortunately, these bodies are
wearing out, but we'll be getting our new and better (than OEM) replacement one
real soon! Who was that guy who said, "In this world nothing can be said to be
certain, except death and taxes"? I like Paul's quote better, "O death, where is
your sting!" No Problem!
Sorry you didn't have a nice winter, but glad you're getting some relief now.
Spring is right around the corner! We didn't have too bad of a winter here, and
hopefully spring will be decent. Looking forward to getting into the outside
routine soon. Mostly stayed cooped up this winter, but did manage to take a few
walks to lubricate the rusty joints. We recently picked up a slew of tree
branches that were cut loose by several powerful winter wind storms, but nothing
like the devastation we saw on TV in other regions. The roof managed to stay in
place! Thank God, we dodged the bullet, but I'm praying for those folks who lost
everything. It's that "nothing is certain" thing, but I hope they will rebound
soon.
It's about time to get the lawnmower out. I wonder if that old machine will
start, without having to yank on the rope too many times, causing me to sign up
for another round of PT rehab. I do need to change the drive belt, new plug, and
filter, and maybe the blade. Crocuses are blooming now, and unfortunately some
tree pollen is on its way. Time to start the flonase for seasonal allergies, I
reckon. Cycles of seasonal changes in this seemingly changeless land. Thankful
for everything God provides in every season in time, even the good and the bad
times that test our faith. It's the "battlefield of the mind", and I hope to
never faint and reap in due season.
Anyhow, I am often thinking about the serious seasonal "changes" that ARE coming
due very soon, (if I happen to be here). Jesus said, "Even so, when you see all
these things, you know that it is near, right at the door" (Matt. 24:33). Seems
like only a few people have a clue, and most really don't care to know anyway. I
know, in my circle, it seems like they are in the "let's eat, drink, and be
merry" mode, with sometimes the "occasional nod to God", but without giving too
much thought of the near future. I wonder what they'll think when things "go
south". I hate to sound judgemental (and I hope I'm wrong), but it seems that
practically everyone in my family seems to have faith either "on life support",
or no faith at all. I'm thankful to see some of them are growing spiritually.
Maybe it's looking at things too much from the world's point of view, instead of
seeing things from God's point of view? Laodicea might be a correct description,
but in any case it's not a positive response. Par for the course. I only hope
they "get it" soon. I could write a book here about some of the disappointing
developments, so thanks for keeping them in prayer.
Sounds like you're getting those ducks in order too (including sending your not
so best wishes to Uncle Sam!). Hopefully he won't take too big a bite this year,
and leave you with enough left over for a few more meals to enjoy. Back in 1862,
during the Civil War, that bite was 3-6%. Of course, it's a lot higher today to
keep the serfs in line at the overlord's discretion. As far as meals, etc. goes,
I wonder about that even more corruptible black horse that is going to show
up...if we'll end up on a serious weight loss program, or? I could stand to lose
some weight...but, what about the other economic problems? We'll just have to
trust God to work it out on that one.
He will never leave or forsake us, that I do know. In the meantime, I hope you
have a good spring break and get lots done. I really appreciate what you are
doing ministering faithfully to all of us. It's truly a valuable Godsend that
keeps us in the race, with the lights still on! I'm reading lots of your
offerings every day, so your labor is not in vain. Thanks a lot!
Thank you very much for your prayers for all of us. You are always in our
prayers too.
Your friend in Jesus,
Response #15:
Thanks for the good report, my friend! I'm happy to hear that __ is doing OK and
that you are hanging in there too. At this age, we'll take it!
Thanks also for the good wishes about the break. First "day off" went well
enough. Got a new toilet installed. Got the income tax done (rough draft;
another half day or so to go – at least I don't owe anything even if I'm not
getting much of anything back). Got a contract on tree removal. Caught up on the
job; resent an article out (the journal that was reviewing it has suspended
operations). Got my PTL's evaluation done. Even got a little exercise (about
three miles walk/jog/walk). More on the schedule tomorrow! By the time the break
is over at this rate I'll be glad to get back to teaching!
Hebrews chapter eleven is chugging along.
Still a longish way to go, but it does look now like I'll finish the series
comfortably before fall of '26 (which was the plan). Hope to have this next
installment out in another month or so.
I also appreciate the way you are keeping focused on the truth and the BIBLICAL
future. So many today are completely distracted by what is going on in the world
and in their personal lives that they are losing track of the Lord and what is
really important down here.
Thanks also for your good words, my friend – greatly appreciated! As are the
prayers!
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #16:
Good evening sir,
While reading through II Samuel, my friend and I have come across the wise woman
of Tekoa in II Samuel 14. She says in verse 14 (in part), "Yet God does not take
away life, but plans ways so that the banished one will not be cast out from
him."
Is this prophecy on her part? I would say that it is a true statement - the
whole of history is God's way of bringing us back to him so that we are not cast
out - but of course most true statements are not prophecy. The possibility
struck me while reading it and I wondered. It does not explicitly say that God
put these words in her mouth. It does say she was a wise woman. Is this worldly
or Godly wisdom? With Joab being involved I tend to have doubts, but on the
surface, the approach is similar to Nathan's approach with Bathsheba. Telling a
story and then pointing out that the story is about David.
A second question.
My understanding of the whole situation with Amnon, Tamar, and Absalom is that
most of the problems could have been avoided if David had actually administered
justice according to the Law when Amnon violated Tamar, instead of only becoming
very angry (13:21). What exactly justice would have been I do not know for
certain, although from Deuteronomy 22:28-29 it would seem that Amnon would be
obligated to take Tamar as his wife. This seems supported by Tamar's reply in
13:16 - "No, because this wrong in sending me away is greater than the other
that you have done to me!" Whether there are other laws that apply in this case
(especially as it was against Tamar's will) I do not know. But it seems to
remain that David did nothing in this case. Had he dealt justice, as the king,
Absalom would not have had reason to (wrongly) murder Amnon (and be another son
going unpunished, for a capital offense no less), would not have fled Israel,
and would (I think) not have overthrown the kingdom of David.
This is of course speculation, but I think it illustrates the importance of
following God's directions even when it is difficult or does not make sense. I
understand to some degree David's unwillingness to punish his son(s), but I do
not see that he was right in doing so.
Finally (something shorter), my friend noted that his Bible in II Samuel 15:7
states that Absalom sat at the gate sweet-talking Israel for forty years, but a
note says that some manuscripts say it was four years. Given that David's reign
is recorded as being forty years in total, the second seems much more plausible,
really the only possible answer out of the two. Is this indeed the case?
Thank you very much for your time. I've written a good deal and I appreciate
your reading it.
Response #16:
On the woman of Tekoa, she is described as chacham, and, while this often means "wise", it can also mean "cunning" (and other things). She was skillful . . . at deception. Nothing in the chapter or the context suggests that her words need to be taken seriously. In fact, of course, Joab put all these words in her mouth, including what you ask about. As far as the quotation, please also remember that the "banished" was Absalom, and if his reinstatement was "from God", it was the last part of the severe discipline that came David's way for murdering Uriah et al. So nothing good came of this whatsoever. No prophecy here. It's a good lesson too. Plenty of people are adept at invoking God's Name and sounding very holy. Wolves in sheep's clothing. They are more the rule in Laodicea than the exception, sadly, and this problem will be much more pronounced once the Tribulation begins.
(3) And when He sat down on the Mount of Olives, His disciples came to Him privately, saying, "Tell us when these things will be, and what the sign is of your return and of the end of the age?" (4) And Jesus answered and said, "See to it that no one deceives you. (5) For many will come in My Name, saying, 'I am the Christ', and they will deceive many people."
Matthew 24:3-5 (cf. Mk.13:4-6)
(24) "At that time if someone says to you 'Look [(as they will tell you then)]! Christ is here!', or 'Here [He is]!', do not believe [it]. For false christs and false prophets will arise and will perform great miracles (lit., "signs") and wonders [sufficient] to deceive even the elect, if [that were] possible. (25) Look [(as I am telling you now)]! I have told you ahead of time. (26) So if they say to you, 'Look! [The Messiah] is [out] in the desert!', don't go out there, or 'Look! He is in the inner rooms (i.e., hidden somewhere in town)!', don't believe [it]."
Matthew 24:24-26 (cf. Mk.13:21-23)
Re: "most of the problems could have been avoided if David had actually
administered justice according to the Law when Amnon violated Tamar", while
of course you are right about David's failure to be just, remember that he was
only in this situation in the first place because of the punitive discipline the
Lord leveled on him for committing adultery with Bathsheba and murdering her
husband, Uriah. So if David had avoided this trap, punishment was still coming.
Of course it is good to note that partiality is always deadly, and the Bible has
much to say about the need to avoid it (see
the link). God is "no respecter of persons", and we should not be either,
even when it comes to our near and dear (Acts 10:34; Rom.2:11; Eph.6:9;
Col.3:25).
On the textual question, the books of Samuel have more textual transmission
errors than any other books in the Old Testament, and especially wherever
numbers are concerned (cf. 1Sam.13:1). The difference in this case between 'arbāʿîm
and 'arbāʿ is very small since the former is essentially a pluralized
form of the former (and in some manuscript traditions would amount to only a
single letter difference). This of course does not mean that there is any reason
to doubt scripture. The fact that there are only small mistakes in the
transmission of the text from such a long time past its initial writing –
mistakes that are easily recognized and corrected based upon careful study of
mss. and textual criticism – should give us great confidence that the Bible we
have IS God's Word.
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #17:
Thank you for your detailed response! I'll share it with my friend as well.
That's kind of the thought I had regarding the woman of Tekoa. The prophecy
thing was one thought I had in the moment but it really did not seem like the
most probable thing the more I thought of it. You make a good point of false
teachers being numerous and convincing.
Also I had forgotten about David having consequences still incoming from the
Bathsheba situation. It is very explicitly mentioned in II Samuel 12, but I
forgot. I was looking at the part of his sons and not him. Thanks.
I had no doubt of scripture, thankfully. I have read around on your site enough
to understand how the manuscripts are no longer 100% perfect - but also how God
has provided the resources to overcome the small errors that have accumulated
over time. On numbers specifically - disregarding textual errors, were the
number systems used in Hebrew and Greek reliable? I've never had an issue
doubting scripture, but when it comes to numbers, because of situations like the
one I mentioned, I often wonder how accurate they are. Obviously there's no
question there were twelve tribes or twelve disciples, but what about numbers of
workers listed in Nehemiah? More of an academic question than a faith one for me
at this point. I'm only familiar with the Roman and decimal numeral systems.
Thanks much,
Response #17:
The numbering systems used in antiquity were not as utilitarian as our Arabic
numerals (which are actually Indian). Greek used the alphabet from one to ten
plus one additional sign but didn't stop at the tenth; it kept going until the
end of the alphabet with several other unique twists (after 10 = iota, 11 is iota +
kappa, and so with each set of tens thereafter), with other signs added as well
in larger numbers. The upshot of that is that it was very easy to make mistakes
in copying numbers calculated with this system, especially if there was any
degradation in a manuscript. The Greek letters epsilon, theta, omicron and sigma
all look very similar in the mss. scripts used in late antiquity so that a
smudge or worm hole could make any one look like the other (epsilon = 5, theta =
9, omicron = 70, and sigma = 200). And, by the way, this was the system that won
out by the time of the New Testament, but before that in Classical times there
were several variations on this system.
Hebrew numbering works similarly using the alphabet in a similar fashion to the
Greek above, even though there are no special signs. So it's still easy to make
numerical mistakes when transposing from one manuscript to another, especially,
as noted, if there is damage. But also as noted in the previous email, I don't
know of a single instance where there is any serious question about a number
which can't be figured out by someone who has all the evidence and knows how
this works. Certainly, there is no serious doctrinal passage affected by this
issue.
One interesting sidelight is the issue of 666. Since this is an Arabic notation,
John, when he saw it or was told it, certainly never had three Arabic sixes in
view. If what he wrote was originally in Greek numerical notation, it would have
been xi-chi-stigma (ΧΞϚ), looking nothing at all like what is popularly
represented in fiction and speculative materials nowadays.

Bob L.
Question #18:
Hi Bob,
It's been a rough old week health-wise. Also I was trying to help with the
gardening and went inside the trunk where the garden tools where and there was
this huge rat right under the lid right near me! Thankfully my quick reactions
kept him inside and we got pest control the same day but then I got to see the
guy kill it with a Dutch hoe so that wasn't really what I wanted to ever
experience!
Streaming with a cold now too. Will be getting back into the saddle of ministry
again in a moment though. Reading through 1 Peter 2:20... I have to say Bob, I
find this REALLY hard.
I know believers need to be able to take suffering for good patiently but I do
find it hard. I know we do need to learn to do this and I know in time I hope to
do it but I do find it extremely hard.
I know the Lord tests us with such things so that if we don't pass this test
first time then He will often gives us opportunity to do so again and hopefully
we will pass with flying colours at some point.
I know that a person who is able to do this may then be chosen to experience
significant testing (for significant reward) in the Tribulation so I DO want to
get better and better at this. I always come back to that feeling of 'it's not
fair' and my flesh on this issue becomes a stumbling block.
There are other areas of my life that I struggled to submit to God over but
eventually I improved. So I do hope I get better with this.
[omitted]
I have had quite a bit of this lately. People treating me very badly indeed
(bordering on abusive) even though I have tried to do my best by them.
No doubt this will get worse and worse as the Tribulation approaches so back to
my original point that I really need to learn how to cope with such things more
patiently and leave it in the Lord's hands and not grumble or get angry about
it.
How are you doing my friend?
In Jesus,
Response #18:
I'm praying for your health.
Rats are beyond annoying. We've had trouble with them too. Living close to a
main thoroughfare with many restaurants is one problem. Old "French sewers"
which are like homes and highways for rodents is another one.
Re: suffering. If it were easy, it wouldn't be a test. But from my perspective
you are doing very well! You don't have to "like it". Who would? That would be
nuts. You just have to endure it in faith that the Lord is working it out and
will see you through.
I'm also sorry you keep having problems with unbelievers. But what can you
expect? It's a mistake to think that people are basically good and if treated
right there will be all ponies and rainbows. Unbelievers have sin natures and
nothing to balance them out. No Holy Spirit. No truth in their hearts. No desire
for what is REALLY good. And no hope whatsoever for the future. No wonder they
are miserable and always looking for targets. Best to stay out of the "impact
area" as much as possible.
Re: "No doubt this will get worse and worse as the Tribulation approaches"
. . . and a LOT worse once it starts. Passing tests doesn't mean getting a
"perfect score". In a long and tough one, it's the very rare Christian who never
has a wrong thought or a moment of frustration. Testing really is necessary for
many reasons, one of which is to remind us that this world is not the end and to
keep us from overly focusing on it or liking it too much – which trap, if our
lives were all a bowl of cherries, we'd be tempted to fall into.
That said, I do realize you've had it rough. I'm praying for your health, my
friend. Whatever comes, try to stick with your personal spiritual growth and
ministry. That way, whatever happens, when this is all over, you'll have a
goodly bit tucked into your "thesaurus".
In Jesus,
Bob L.
Question #19:
Hi Dr. Luginbill,
I hope you're doing well! I wanted to send you some updates.
__ celebrated the one year anniversary since undergoing surgery – doing really
well and seems to get stronger everyday. Praise God.
Some sad news: __ whom I've written to you about before has been diagnosed with

what you deserve." __ told me and my family that we were terrible Christians and
would have to answer to God someday for everything we've done. I know I'm a
sinner, but I also know that Jesus died for all my sins; and I know that __ has
no right to claim such awful judgement on me. And I know that the Lord is
perfectly just and forgiving.
It's ironic that shortly after __ said such hurtful words __ was diagnosed with
cancer. The irony is not lost on me; I pray that the Lord works in __ heart, and
I pray that he protects me from the same fate. I pray that he gives me a humble
heart; to be like the archangel Michael and say, "the Lord rebuke you!" Not
leaving anything to my judgment, but crying out to God for help, for
forgiveness, and whatever judgement he proclaims, because I know he is perfectly
just.
I'm reaching out for one last "hail Mary" for __ soul. It seems that __ does not
have much time left in this world. I guess the cancer has spread to all major
organs. Please pray that __ will accept Christ before __ dies.

Response #19:
Great to hear from you. I'm very happy to hear that the operation went well. I
have been praying for that.
Sorry to hear about your __. I do remember you telling me about the awful
situation, but I'm not sure why __should be angry at you and your family. I'll
put her on my list for salvation and healing.
How are YOU doing? How's the job, the 'newish' place, et al.?
Just finishing up spring break here. I got everything on my list done (taxes,
plumbing, yard work, clean up some, etc.), so I'm pretty happy about that. I
need to get back to teaching to have a rest!
Keeping you in my daily prayers, my friend.

Question #20:
I don't understand why __ hates us so much. I know we shouldn't be
surprised when the world hates us, but I get shocked every time at the depth of
the hatred...
Years ago, someone that I worked with at my old job used to text me in the
middle of the night calling me horrible names because apparently there was some
glitch with __ paycheck and for some reason __ blamed me for that. I tried to
explain that we work for a corporation and I have literally nothing to do with
payroll. But __ accused me of always being out to get __, trying to set __ up
for failure, and other nonsense. __ even said that __ was glad my mother was in
the hospital because __ hoped it would teach me a lesson. Dr. Luginbill, I don't
particularly like myself, and I know that even the smallest sin is enough to
condemn us, and I always pray that the Lord will reveal to me any sins that I'm
too blind to see in myself so that I can grow and change – but it's not like I'm
Hitler! I hardly ever even spoke to this person mainly because most of the time
__ was too high to make it to any of __ shifts.
Apparently there was a "I hate __ / __ is annoying" text group that __ and the
other workers were a part of...one of the workers came forward and admitted that
to me when __ found out that the other person was bombarding me with hateful
text messages every night. __ apologized to me with tears in __ eyes. __ said,
"Your responses to__ were so perfect. You're so strong" (I printed the text
messages and gave them to my boss, who confronted the other workers).
Most of them never apologized. I genuinely asked one of them why they hated me,
and __ said it was because I was cheerful and friendly all the time, which__
found annoying and fake. Well...I'm not going to stop trying to be kind, so I
guess there's no working that out. I try to be kind to people, but I don't do it
because I care how they view me. We're to love our neighbors as ourselves, so
that's what I try to do. Some people sure make it difficult to do that!
Anyway, I'm happy that you're doing well. You've certainly been productive! I
still have a lot of yardwork to do...
I can't remember if I told you, but I sold my condo and bought a real house!
With a yard! I can start gardening now! Which apparently my springer spaniel
puppy thinks he's helping me with by digging holes everywhere...
My house was built in the 1930s so it has a lot of character. They don't make
houses like this anymore. The downside is...it was built in the 1930s, and
hasn't been updated much since. I think the last time it was updated was
sometime in the 70s judging by the hideous shag carpet covering the beautiful
oak floors (what were they thinking back then??). Lots of DIY work to do! I
think I'll be ripping up carpet for the rest of my days. At least the puppy has
been somewhat helpful in that regard...he loooooves ripping up my things.
I recently got promoted at work, so make more money now. I'm still working from
home...I hardly see anyone or talk to anyone other than my parents who live
nearby.
My neighbors are nice; they're Catholic, but they're nice. One of them was
wearing a T-shirt that said something along the lines of, "repent for the end
times are near." Not that I pay too much attention to these things, but isn't it
interesting how a lot of our media, movies, songs and whatnot seem to be about
the apocalypse? I keep seeing ads for movies about a zombie apocalypse, or
articles about how the world is going to blow up because of climate change or
whatever...and they have most of the details WRONG of course. But I remember
learning in school about how when Christ returned, there was all kinds of
ancient "media" and stories about a Savior even in the pagan world as if the
times were "ripe" for a Messiah...and then he appeared! I hope that people
listen to the "rumblings" and seek out the truth...
I've been fostering dogs, which is a fun if not sometimes stressful experience.
I love how unconditionally they love.
I work for eight hours a day, take care of my dogs, talk to my parents...and
spend most of my time wondering how quickly things are going to escalate once
2026 is here.
I think time has sped up; I blink and the years go by...
But life is good because God is good!
Keeping you in my prayers as well! Don't work too hard!

Response #20:
The evil one attacks different believers in different ways, tailoring his
approach based upon any success he's had in the past. You clearly are a humble
person so you are more susceptible to other people telling you they have
negative feelings towards you. No doubt that explains a lot of it. Also, in
terms of the job, well, all employees hate their bosses, often for good reason.
The fact that they did NOT have a good reason for hating you when the job itself
was "hate-able" probably intensified their anger. I wouldn't worry about it. You
are a good person doing a good job and doing your best to do what the Lord wants
you to do. That is a good place to be.
I don't have a dog but I do like them. Did you ever see that movie, "Megan
Leavey"? Very nice flick. So you foster dogs? That means you have to give them
up? That would probably be hard.
Re: "isn't it interesting how a lot of our media, movies, songs and whatnot
seem to be about the apocalypse?" It is indeed. Since it's becoming beyond
obvious that things can't go on like this much longer, no doubt the evil one is
pulling out the stops to get as much MIS-information (lies) about the subject
out there in preparation. But for those of us who love the truth, the truth is
our best defense.
Keeping you in my daily prayers, my friend. Thanks for the update!
